About Bryan Tate
Born and raised in York County, Bryan Tate is a recognized leader in the York community and was elected York County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans Court in 2019. He was sworn-in on January 3, 2020.
Having taken office just before the surge of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bryan stepped up to keep his new office open for business even when York County, Pennsylvania, the country, and the world were shutting down. He put his leadership skills to work for York's legal community and all citizens of York County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Within days of the Coronavirus shutdown, Bryan added an electronic payment system and created virtual processes for constituents to probate estates and apply for marriage licenses. And he opened his electronic case management system to the internet so constituents could read public documents online. In addition, he holds Register of Wills hearings virtually so that heirs and witnesses who live in other parts of the country can participate rather than forgo their interests in an estate being reviewed. Bryan keeps his office open and serving the community when citizens needed it most, while also ensuring the health and safety of his staff. And he hired Spanish-speaking staff to ensure accurate information-sharing and improved customer service. Bryan is a man of the people who serves all constituents who need the Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans' Court office. |
Bryan was recognized by his peers and elected to the Executive Board of the Registers of Wills and Clerks of Orphans' Court Association of Pennsylvania. He serves on the Legislative Committee of the Association and as an alternate delegate to the Pennsylvania State Association of Elected County Officials. Bryan led the effort convincing the Department of Health to update Adoption forms and Marriage License applications to make them consistent with the practices of each county in Pennsylvania.
Always a proud promoter of York and all it has to offer, Bryan will be hosting the Registers of Wills and Clerks of Orphans' Court Association of Pennsylvania to their 2024 Summer Conference in Downtown York! In addition, Bryan was named Chairman of the York County Commission for America250PA, Pennsylvania's partner to celebrate the U.S. Semiquincentennial! Bryan and the Commission plan to celebrate York County's 275th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the Articles of Confederation along with the 250th birthday of the United States of America. Following the tradition of his successor, Bryan continues to partner with the York County Bar Association to host "Breakfast with the Register." This annual event brings together York County attorneys to learn about current topics of interest in the Orphans' Court and Register of Wills. In addition, Bryan publishes "The Front ROW" Enews regularly to keep attorneys, accountants, bankers, insurance brokers and investment advisors abreast of important changes or topics of interest for the field. Bryan proudly added the annual York County National Adoption Day Celebration in 2000, a recognition of people and organizations of the community who promote fostering and adopting children who need a family and a home. The event is a forum to announce and congratulate a new York County Adoption Advocate of the Year. |
